Come to the sea

Matalay means "come to the sea." A simple invitation to slow down, look around, and feel connected to where you are.

Matalay · “come to the sea”

A new integrated coastal community where nature, culture & people connect.

Set 75 minutes north of Phuket on Thailand’s Andaman coast, Matalay brings together 1,059 rai of beaches, lakes, rivers and forest, with 1.2 kilometres of coastline at Memories Beach.

Matalay is being shaped as a connected coastal community, building on a place that is already alive. Memories Beach, surf culture, local businesses and Matalay Elephant Home form part of an existing community that has grown here over many years.

Responsibility to the place

A VISION SHAPED BY THE PLACE

Matalay begins with what is already here. Nature, people and community shape how the destination grows.

  • Nature

Nature leads the masterplan. The lakes, forest and coastline are connected through the Green Spine, allowing the landscape to guide how Matalay grows.

  • People

Matalay is designed around everyday life. Walkable connections, shared spaces, outdoor experiences and places to gather create more ways for people to spend time in nature and with one another.

  • Community

The community is already here. From Memories Beach and its surf culture to local businesses and Matalay Elephant Home, the masterplan builds on what exists and creates opportunities that extend beyond Matalay.

NEWS & UPDATES

GOYA TOWER TAKES SHAPE

A new landmark at Matalay explores how architecture can create value from overlooked materials.

Designed by Boonserm Premthada of Bangkok Project Studio, Goya Tower is being built using handcrafted bricks incorporating elephant dung, transforming an unexpected material into part of the architecture.

Around 30% of the elephant dung used comes from Matalay Elephant Home, creating a direct connection between the project, its landscape and the community already here.

More than a landmark, Goya Tower reflects a wider approach at Matalay: exploring how thoughtful design, local knowledge and materials can come together to create something rooted in place. The tower is now taking shape as part of Matalay’s evolving landscape.
